A common problem for cam models, especially newbies, is site viewers trying to take advantage and tell them what to do. Viewers can be cheeky, bossy and persistent! Which things are you not willing do on cam? Consider types of actions and shows involving nudity and sexual acts. What level of behaviour do you expect from your viewers? How you would like them to address and communicate with you? For example should they address you by name, by a title or by specific terms. Understand that politeness and common decency is what you deserve. Would there be any rules you would set (your own code of conduct) on top of the site rules? This could relate to financial things like minimums or pretips. It could also relate to things like interaction and behaviour. It is really important to be clear on your answers. Answer them how you feel most comfortable. Write them down for your reference. This forms the basis of how to set your boundaries and ultimately, how to manage your chat room. CREATE YOUR CHAT ROOM RULES All cam sites have a bio section on the model profiles, where models can write information about themselves. Depending on the site, some also have a chat room rules or chat room notice section. Wherever there is a free format box to input your own text, is a good place to make your own boundaries and rules clear. Top Tip: Type your own rules out in short bullet points. Allow me to share my insight to tackle the issue of poor quality traffic. My proven success tips will help you boost engagement and attract better quality, monetising viewers. As a time and duty-served successful cam model and mentor, my calling is to assist other models to build their careers and become successful on cam. We all know making it in this highly competitive industry is not an overnight success, and right now times are hard. Every week and I have discussions with models, usually about the same pain points that make logging on, and staying on, feel like an abysmal chore. These pain points are: Poor quality traffic, and Lack of engagement. UNDERSTAND TRAFFIC QUALITY AND HOW THIS DETERMINES PLACEMENT AND ENGAGEMENT Looking around the major live streaming cam sites you'll see many of them advertise "free user accounts" and "free live sex shows." They do this to attract thousands of users, from all over the world, to join. It is a numbers game. With a sizeable percentage of these users being low budget or even zero budget viewers; it is no surprise that building and maintaining an active, monetising audience as a cam model, can often feel tedious. While there may be thousands of viewers only there to watch for free; there are also high quality, interactive, monetising members still circulating these sites. Attracting this category of fans can be tough, with thousands of other models, all hustling for the spotlight. There are only so many of the 'hot property' placement spots on the major cam sites, where these bigger fish tend to swim around. Quite often these guys are very helpful with engagement, and they are not shy to spend their cash! Lucrative members are out there, attracting them requires understanding and levelling up! We all know that lack of decent quality traffic and subsequent lack engagement, directly impacts placement and earning potential. Where performer stats linked to earnings versus online time drop (aka 'tokens per hour' earnings), this results in a slower and slower chat room. This can affect individuals on a persistent basis, resulting in unfavourable 'algorithmic' placement week in, week out. I see poor quality traffic and engagement being the primary root causes of demotivation in cam models. The end result being, they work less on cam or have no desire to work at all. This is perfectly natural and understandable and is especially harsh on newbies who get stuck in a rut and can't figure out what to do. If you're reading this and perfectly relate to how this feels, I know how it feels! I was a newbie once too. If you look around the big cam sites, appears to be a hierarchical thing. The lucrative members gravitate to the established, top tier models. Pay attention to this and you'll see their personal presentation, room and tech setup, show repertoire and performances... are well polished. As such, these models always show at the top of the home pages. Here, they capture the attention of the top quality traffic aka the big fish, who tend to be interactive. And this, eventually, is where you too can be - with good quality traffic and engagement. A cam model styled and dressed up to attract the high end monetising fans. As with any type of career, achieving mega success requires long-term commitment and continual investment in improving all the necessary elements to become a pro! To help you get ahead quicker, there are basics of how traffic, placements and positioning yourself for great engagement, work. Allow me to enlighten! HOW TO BREAK OUT OF THE POOR QUALITY TRAFFIC RUT "Poor quality traffic" may be the single most annoying cam model pain point, along with poor engagement. The two are interlinked and tend to be a product of one another. I have models telling me: "It was all free users, no users with tokens, nobody chatting." Ugh. I hate this. Honestly, I've had streams like this, too. I get it. You'd rather stick needles in your eyes than talk to yourself or perform for free. As mentioned at the top of this blog, cam site marketing is very good at attracting thousands of free users to bring 'traffic' to the chat rooms. That's all well and good, but it might not be the type traffic you want. "How do the free users benefit me?" - I get asked. It's a double-edged sword in my view. First off, you have to accept that its never going away and make peace with the idea. There is a rational argument to say that any type of traffic (viewers) is beneficial if it drives up the viewer numbers in the room. This is a true fact - it does. It's because higher viewer numbers attract more viewers, which in turn pushes up the room on the home page. This in itself can attract the good guys who will chat, tip and go private. However... When it's all free viewers (aka "lurkers") and lack of the guys who have funds; this scenario can trigger feelings of anxiety, intimidation, burnout, and/or low self esteem in cam models. The downside to their presence is they make chat rooms feel stagnant. A stagnant chat room is not only deflating for models, it becomes a vicious cycle situation where viewers are sent further into complacency, the room becomes even slower and the placement takes a dive. It's too bad that inactive users have nothing productive to do with their time. It just proves how mindless they are, to hang around in chat rooms with nothing going on! Without the interaction that brings value to our time online, you might even think, how can it be possible to create an engaging show and make money? How is a cam model to build a community of supportive fans? When a room full of poor quality, inactive viewers sends placement and visibility plummeting, the chat room is not easy to find by the high quality traffic. So it really can feel like being stuck in stalemate. I will share some of the common issues that see chat rooms stuck in the poor traffic rut: Lack of appeal due to any missing element of presentation: Where there is a lack of attention to personal styling, poor stream quality, poor audio, background cluttered, lack of lighting etc; the viewers with budget will bypass. Unclear or lack of titles and tags : Along with the chat room video preview, these are the first things potential viewers see. If there is not much information added on your profile, no chat room topic or theme, or lack of relevant tags, they will discover and visit other chat rooms that have all of this populated and clear. Inconsistent streaming : Fans want to know when to visit you online. Sporadic short streams and lack of schedule mean they'll be hit and miss, too. I know it's hard when you're struggling to get interaction going, but this is a very important pain point push through. Consistency pays off! Lack of promotion outside the platform : Relying solely on the streaming site limits growth. If you utilise social media and other online apps and forums designed for networking, you can potentially find guys to connect with who will want to visit you on cam - thus improving engagement. Be super mindful of the above factors and make tweaks to your profile, presentation and processes where you can. Utilising social media and online networking forums can help boost growth and traffic. HOW TO POSITION YOURSELF STRONG TO BOOST ENAGEMENT Engagement is the very essence of live streaming. When potentially interactive viewers feel like they can't connect or feel attracted to a cam model, they don't stick around. If you're sitting on the fence, viewing both sides; you'll see how a slow chat room can be awkward for both models and members alike. Lack of chat and atmosphere often discourages potentially interactive room visitors from engaging. So, be on the ball, doing the right things to encourage them. Start with these basics: Greet members by username when they enter and welcoming them. Voice chat so they can hear your voice. This also helps create atmosphere. Be personable and forthcoming, asking questions to invite chat. If you're doing these things and they still do not engage, you could kick them from your room. Depending how you feel or your tolerance levels; if they drain or intimidate you, they need to go for the sake of your sanity. Here are some things to be mindful not to do if you're keen to get a good response from viewers: Don't ignore chat messages or respond late : This makes fans feel neglected, or like you're not paying attention. This will usually deter them from spending money. Instead: Respond promptly and personally, using their username so they know you're responding directly to them. Don't be monotone or distracted : Models who seem bored or busy with their phone rather than being present with their audience, will see viewers mirror this energy. Instead: Face them, make eye contact, and show that you're paying them attention. Be conscious how lack of effort translates : Viewers often need prompts to join in. So don't sit silent as this creates further awkwardness. Instead: Ask them questions, or for their thoughts; as this encourages them to respond. Avoid overly repetitive chat content : While a sales patter is great for encouraging viewers to spend, repeating the same thing comes across robotic and unappealing. Instead: Think of a broader variety of things you can talk about, this does not always have to be 'dirty' chat. The aim to captivating the monetising members and achieving long-term loyalty from them, is to connect on a personal level. Don't slip into complacent habits: Lack of creativity makes viewers bored and complacent, and turn their attention to rooms where they feel inspired and excited. Instead: Mix up your outfits, themes, shows, vibes, to keep them hungry and intrigued by what you'll do next! How about a cosplay? Try a different outfit or theme, such as a cosplay, to keep inspiring the viewers. LEVEL UP, ATTRACT BETTER TRAFFIC To attract better quality traffic and engaging, monetising fans. I suggest do these things: Max-up your presentation which includes your personal styling. Want to appeal to high end guys? Style yourself high end! Make an effort with your outfit, makeup, hair, body language, and anything else you can make more visually appealing. Update tip features, room titles and profile tags regularly, to reflect your themes and what’s happening in your shows. This will grab the attention of monetising members, who love to see variety. Stick to a schedule of the same weekly days and times. Interactive viewers are usually around at certain times of the day that best suit them. Allow them to become regular visitors and expect you online during their active hours. Make your setup and stream super pro! I'll explain more about this below.... THE IMPACT OF TECH SETUP AND STREAM QUALITY ON TRAFFIC AND ENGAGEMENT A cam model's tech setup and stream quality will directly impact traffic quality, engagement, along with home page placement. Deadbeat viewers seem quite happy to hang around in poor quality streams. Guys with funds are looking for a quality experience, so they will not. Your tech setup includes your internet connection along with the quality, functionality and positioning of your technical equipment, such as your laptop, webcam and microphone. It also includes lighting and audio, which affects the ambience and environment. Bad tech is a whole pain point in itself! Such issues lead to poor traffic, poor engagement, poor placement: Glitchy stream  due to low internet upload speeds, unstable connection, using a mobile phone to stream, or using computer equipment which is not powerful enough to stream. Poor lighting that makes the stream hard to see, causes too much shadowing or generally appears unflattering. Unclear audio due to low quality of faulty microphone, means viewers don't get a smooth and enjoyable audio experience. Bad camera angles  (framing) that don't flatter the model or cause her to be facing in the wrong direction so it's hard for viewers to connect, or head cut out of the camera view which removes the means for making captivating eye contact. Some suggestions to improve the tech setup and boost engagement: Make internet upgrades  such as asking your provider for faster upload internet speeds. Make equipment upgrades such as buying a good quality HD cam, a decent plug-in microphone, and a high powered laptop. Position the camera at eye level for a natural and alluring connection. This will encourage viewers to chat back far more than if you don't give them eye contact. Keep the background clear from clutter , and relevant to the show type, vibe or outfit theme. Use soft, even lighting to highlight and flatter, also cause minimal shadowing. Test out the audio and video quality before going live . You can do this by asking someone you trust, or asking someone in your cam site model support team to view your stream and check all appears good. HOW BODY LANGUAGE AND ENERGY IMPACT TRAFFIC AND ENGAGEMENT I touched on this earlier, but this is a key element of boosting engagement. Body language and energy send powerful signals to viewers. Negative body language , such as crossed arms, lack of eye contact, or slouching, can make the model seem unapproachable or disinterested. Poor energy, like speaking in a flat tone or showing little enthusiasm, can kill the vibe in the chat room. Viewers pick up on these cues quickly, and potentially interactive ones will leave the room. Positive body language , and high energy, on the other hand; invite participation and create a welcoming atmosphere. This helps encourage greater engagement. Quick tips to instantly improve body language and energy: Maintain an open posture and smile genuinely. Make eye contact with the camera to connect with viewers. Use varied facial expressions and gestures to show emotion. Keep your voice lively and modulate tone to match the mood. Take breaks if feeling tired to avoid draining energy on stream. EXTRA QUICK TIPS TO HELP IMPROVE TRAFFIC QUALITY AND BOOST ENGAGEMENT: Use chat commands or bot features in your chat room, to create interactive games or quizzes which invite audience participation. Offer shoutouts or small rewards for active participants. Keep proactively trying new things if your current format, performance style or show types do not seem to be working. And lastly, please don't lose heart. Try to stay focussed on tackling these pain points and building yourself up... ...There are endless possibilities and things to try as a cam model! Keep trying different things until you crack the code that works for you. Once you get your first few good monetising fans on board, you will find that you'll start to get better quality traffic and engagement overall. Eventually, it will start to snowball. The exciting thing about getting to this stage, is your placement will improve organically. It's a great feeling being on your way to becoming a regular fixture in those premium slots on the home page! So stay hungry! What had not changed was the issue of still needing to make money on a continual basis. In fact, my need was greater than ever before! I thought long and hard about the idea of webcamming. With all my experience of teasing for tips on stages and one to one private dances, I felt sure would have the confidence to tease men for money on cam. After all, it couldn't be a lot different to chatting and flirting with them for money in the club. The difference with camming is that it is socially distanced over the internet, and would be a lot safer. Even better, I would not have to pay house fees whether or not I made money! Let's make a start on YOU and what YOU need to do to get there... BE CLEAR OF YOUR OBJECTIVES First of all, have a think about your financial situation and what is is that's bothering you or making you feel you're lacking financially. What's the pain point(s)? This is the start of the planning process. You ' ll need to do a lot of thinking about this, to help bring clarity to the situation and start to make an action plan (it's fun to think of this as your own type of personal business plan). For example: Are you a mother and need to earn flexible income from home to support your family? Are you stressed trying to meet loan or credit cards payments? Do you need to earn more money each month to not only cover bills, but live a better life generally? Do you need to earn £XXX amount more a month to be able to afford to buy and run a car? Do you need to raise £25,000 as a deposit to move out of a current living situation that's not serving you well, and make a start on the property ladder? Do these things: Identify specific issue(s), and trust me when I say if you tackle it head on, you can easily improve your financial situation and become prosperous. Envision earning enough money to resolve those issues. This will get you into an excited and productive money-making state of mind. Strengthen this prosperity thought process by thinking about what achieving financial freedom means to you in the long term. What problems will it prevent later on, and how can you see your life changing for the better? Visualise the outcomes, in colourful pictures. The people, the places, the emotions, the celebration, and how empowered you'll be once prosperous! Document your thoughts as a creative flow to bring the vision to life. Some suggestions: Use a journal or planner to make notes as bullet points (simple way) Brainstorm your objectives and visions as a word cloud (simple way)) Make a funnel or pyramid chart putting things in order of priority (technical, structured) Sketch ideas for solutions and future prosperity dreams as pictures (dreamy) Write down motivational quotes that relate to your prosperity goals (powerful) Cut and stick pictures or craft things aligning with your visions in a scrapbook (dreamy) Use post-it notes and a pin board (simple and effective) Scrapbooking is a dreamy creative way to document objections, visions and goals which puts a positive spin and makes the process enjoyable Scrapbooking is something I've had fun with over the years, finding images in magazines that align with my visions, cutting and sticking and flicking through these often to keep me hungry for achieving my goals. It may sound geeky by I also enjoy making pyramid or funnel charts, with goals ordered in priority, key points relating to the goals, timescales and projections. That might sound a bit technical but it's a creative process that works for me. I also love brainstorming and doodling word clouds, adding motivational quotes, highlighting them in colour or adding oversized speech marks. Choose a method which suits you! Be imaginative and express your prosperity desires as this is an important part of the creative thought process which leads to prosperity. The physical and visual elements of documenting really work as they make things seem so tangible. These methods can also be added to as you go along, or you and try new methods to see which resonates best. Top Tip: Factor in some realistic timescales with a reward or celebration at the end. You could do this as numbered goals or as a hierarchy style chart, putting things in order of priority or as short, medium and long term goals. Creatively documenting objectives, visions and goals helps create a plan for financial prosperity! You'll find doing this highly motivating and also relaxing! I still creatively document regularly myself at times I need to plan out a financial goal that I intend to use my work to achieve. What I especially love about this... The creative process aways helps me to set the intention. I am able to figure out the workflow process more clearly. Putting timescales down in writing ensure I do not procrastinate or snooze on the idea. Take as long as you need to fulfil this exercise. Do it over hours, days or weeks, until you feel you have a strong vision for financial prosperity that makes you feel motivated and ready to take action. Top Tip: Refer back to your documented creative flow as a daily reminder of your mission to fulfil. This will help you keep going! SET FINANCIAL GOALS Having worked out what needs addressing and painting that vision for successful prosperity outcome(s), the next step is to set specific financial goals. These need to be realistic and they need to be achievable. If they're not, you'll be at risk of overwhelm and struggling to fulfil the financial prosperity outcomes that will change your life for the better. I find a good way is to break down bigger financial goals into chunks, target income figures quarterly for example. The income figures need to be specific to cover specific costs in your objectives, and you should add the figures to your journal notes/scrapbook. You could even pop them on a calendar or in a diary so you can relate them to specific date targets. This heightens the sense of self-discipline. Deadlines bring a sense of pressure - which is a productive state to be in. Add goals, income targets and target dates to a calendar for extra self-motivation! Specific income figures may be difficult to define at first, but you'll get used to it in time and eventually be able to plug figures out of thin air, the same way I do. To begin the process, I suggest you ask yourself questions that make you think clearly about specific amounts of money. For example: How much money do you need to earn as your target income per week, per month or per year, to help you reach your goals? What do you need as your bare minimum base income to cover all your overheads? (more about how to work this out in Step 7). What amount of money will solve financial issue(s) you need to resolve, and in what timescales? How much income do you want to see in that savings account you're about to open, one year from now? How about two, or five years from now? (I highly recommend opening a savings account even if you only have £50/$50 to put in to start with, as this helps to set the intention). What amount of surplus income do you need to have as disposable income each month, after paying taxes? These are all highly thought-provoking questions to help with the money target defining process. It is how you put financial value on short, medium and long term financial goals that are going to change your life for the better. BUILD A STRONG IDENTITY With objectives, vision and financial goals set... it's time to get to work and tap into that uncapped earning potential to become financially prosperous! It's yours for the taking - so what to do now? Build a strong identity! Your identity and niche will help grow your popularity and shape your success. Top Tip: It is very important to get to work on building your identity imminently, because establishing a strong identity will help you stand out amongst thousands of other cam models. Carve out your identity and niche on cam, to stand out from the rest! Having a strong identity attracts a dedicated fan base of members who will become your regular supporters and tippers. Be sure to: Carve out a niche and make it unique . Work on your skills and flaunt your most appealing traits. Fact: We never reach our financial goals without taking positive action every week towards achieving them! It's not rocket science. I always harp on about the need for being persistent when cam models come to me complaining that it always feels slow in their cam room. Being flaky, doing one hour then logging of, being there one week and not the next, does not cut it in this industry. The thing that bridges your plan to your goal is self-discipline! This is a serious job and income source. If you wish to be one of the hustle Queens making the big pay-outs week on week on cam, you have to learn to be self-disciplined and persistent. Keep referring back to your journal of objectives, visions, goals and income targets daily to help you stay on track! To achieve a high level of success, I'm not even talking about grinding out 30+ hours a week full time on cam. I have never worked full time on cam. I've only ever been a part time cam model, working just 16 or 20 hours a week online. I've made those part time hours very lucrative by building a strong identity and persona. Appealing to a certain type of member and monetising them very well. Having personally enjoyed a number of years of earning 6-figures-a-year on cam as a part timer, I can vouch for the fact it's realistic and achievable. If I can, you can! 16 hours a week is a good schedule of hours to aim for, as you should not find this overwhelming or leading to burnout. You can choose a schedule that fits around any other job you have, or important duties like caring for your children if you have them. Top Tip: Publish your schedule of camming hours and be sure to stick to it. This is how you build mutual loyalty with fans. If you're consistent, they'll be consistent in return. Persistence, combined with discipline, is the driving force which solves those financial issues and smashes those prosperity goals! CONNECT WITH YOUR AUDIENCE A loyal fan base is key to for ongoing financial success in webcam modeling, so make them feel connected. Engage with them through interactive chat, social media, and personalized content. Do this ever week and you'll keep them "on your hook" and spending money regularly. Top Tip: Always respond to fan messages so they feel valued and their support is appreciated. This leads to increased tips and subscriptions. The more effort you make to build a stronger the connection with your audience, the more likely they are to reciprocate support you financially. Don't be shy to share some of your financial objectives with them, but never reveal anything too personal. Top Tip: Consider investing time (and a little money if needed) in courses relating to performance, marketing, or content creation to enhance the quality of your content. Doing things such as taking an online class in video editing can improve the production value of your streams, making them higher quality and as such, more appealing to fans. The more polished your skills as a cam model - be these skills in self-promotion, online chat presentation, self-styling, media production or sexual performance skills - the better quality members you'll attract who will monetise your assets. Like always attracts like, so to make a lot of money you need to level up and appeal to the members who have a lot of money to spend! Invest in your skills as a cam model to become a pro and reach your financial goals! Top Tip: Tweak the documenting in your journal/scrapbook as you grow and evolve as a cam model. This is how to keep levelling up and opening up more opportunities to limitless income! MANAGE FINANCES WISELY This will probably seem like the boring part. But do not under-estimate its importance! To achieve financial freedom and maintain it, careful money management is essential. Track your earnings, be watchful of expenses and make provisions to save some money rather than spend everything you receive in each pay out. Budgeting is sensible, and this can be done in simple terms by using a journal or online spreadsheet in Excel for example. Note down all essential costs - such as rent, utility bills, any applicable taxes related to your accommodation, costs relating to running a car or any pets you have, an amount you need for the weekly food shop, etc. Aim to set aside at least 20% - of all weekly or monthly income for paying income taxes, and prioritise the allocation of funds you need towards your goals. Ringfence 10% of the remainder - for savings or a pension fund so you can start building up a nest egg for when you're older. See what you have left over - as surplus or "disposable" income. This is what to put by for enjoying life's luxuries such as holidays, nights out, lunches with the girls, and maintenance - hair, nails, makeup etc. Keeping track of these figures helps you to see exactly where you're at week on week or month on month. It also enables you to see where you need to be more diligent in terms of expenditure, and what you can afford to be more extravagant with once in a while. Keep on top of your finances so you stay on track. Sharp financial management and documentation of figures will help you stay on track to meet your goals. It is also a smart way to figure out how much extra money you need to earn to meet your goals quicker. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND YOU'LL BUILD PROSPERITY AS A CAM MODEL How to instil self-belief? Here's my way! I help myself to believe in myself with a daily pep talk! I talk to myself when getting ready to work on cam! I'll be putting on makeup or looking through outfits to choose what to wear, muttering to myself. "You can do it, girl!" "You got this, girl!" "Almost at target, keep going!" "Get the job done, you're killing it!" ...etc etc. Giving myself a talking to, and most of all during those tough times like slower weeks on cam or times when I feel tired, pre-menstrual or not really in the mood to cam, is what self-motivates me! A pep-talk to reassure myself I am a professional in this industry. A pep-talk to assert me to believe that no matter what, I will make money. So... I tell myself I am going to slay! I remind myself I am not going to be happy with myself if I fail to reach my goals. I think about what I'd miss out on, or have to sacrifice if I don't reach my goals. I instruct myself to take action today . I tell myself copping out is not an option . I highly recommend you do all of this too! It fires up the mental self-programming needed to stay focussed on your motives - which is to eliminate those financial struggles - and achieve financial prosperity. Achieving financial prosperity as a cam model is within reach! You just need a clear set of objectives, vision and goals, and to maintain a motivated, believing, disciplined mindset to keep taking action! I hope my guidance helps.
